Relay For Life

Image
On a completely different topic - you likely might not know that I am deeply involved with Relay For Life - the #1 Fundraising Event for the American Cancer Society! Cancer has touched my life... quite a few times, but none as deep as when I lost my father on December 12, 2015. 45 short, yet incredibly long, months ago (as of yesterday). It hadn't even been too long since he was diagnosed - about 2 years give or take if I remember correctly (which is rarely the case). My dad did his first Relay For Life in NY - the year after he passed, I went to NY to attend the Relay at my very own high school. Afterward, I knew I wanted to be a part of something that is so much bigger than just me, or one event, so I found my local event and let me tell you they are some really amazing people! If you would like more info, you can see my Team Page - Cookie's Cancer Fighters (keeping my dad's original team name alive)!               (5/31/14)

Work in Progress

Has it really been over 6 months since my last post?? You might have noticed the new name... Turns out there is a trademark on the name, and I was unaware. I have apologized and changed everything right away, but will need to figure out my next steps... what will the new name be? what is my direction? A lot of things have happened in the last few months. We had been house-hunting, in and out  of contract on a house, and listed our own house! July 25th, 2019 - we officially bought our NEW home and sold our OLD home on the same day! Slowly, but surely, we are settling in and enjoying the pool and shorter commute! 5 days after moving in, we left for a week in Colorado (*watch out for that post!), which had been planned for months. 5 days after returning, the new school year started, on my birthday!! We now have an 8th Grader and Kindergartener!!! Where has the time gone?! With all that being said - today is the day the applications for Disney Parks

Where Am I?

(timehop photo from undetermined time) Sometimes I don't even know what I want to say. There must have been something. I start many draft posts, but lose my path and never post them. Every day I wish we were at Disney, or on a Cruise... or at the very least have a vacation planned. Patience ( Grasshopper ). In January, I began a new Instagram FreedomIn19   - since June 29, 2018, we have been working on debt, and every day/month we get closer to our goal of being debt free in 2019. At the end of this journey, we will have lots of travel and cruises to look forward to! For every holiday I have been requesting Disney Gift CArds, and we officially have enough to put a deposit down on a 2020 cruise!! I am sure you all know, we were meant to be on the Disney Fantasy on February 2nd for a 7-Night Star Wars Day at Sea cruise, but financially needed to cancel. That was the best Cruise we have never been on!! We may not have physically been on the cruise ship but we su

Where we could have been

Back in October, I shared about Dreams and Fantasies ... Right now , we were supposed to be starting our journey up to Port Canaveral for our 7-Night Caribbean "Star Wars Day at Sea" Cruise! I could just cry, I want to be there so bad! I honestly don't know what it is, but I just long to be on a Disney Cruise again! Tyler even still has all of next week off of work Lucky Duck !! I would like to say my next week would be no different from any other... but I will probably watch the DCL webcams like crazy and think " we should've been there ", and I will probably watch Star Wars every chance I can. Due to finances, we had to cancel that cruise, but we have come SO FAR in the last 7 months and I am currently looking at a 2020 Star Wars Cruise!!! Every Christmas and Birthday, I request Disney Gift Cards as often as possible! And we currently have enough to put a deposit on a future cruise!! Thank you to our family!! (keep 'em com

Bucket List / Must Do

Image
This will forever stay on my cruise "bucket list" - waking up for the sunrise , or just early enough to lounge in the large porthole and enjoy coffee while everyone is still asleep! As if I didn't remember our cruise was one-year-ago, my timehop reminded me I took this picture on Oct, 29th, 2017 (at 8:14 am)! What is on your "Vacation Bucket List"? I would love to hear!! 'til next time, ps. this post was started on Oct 29, 2018 -- just never got back to finish it!

Expectations

Image
If you've never been on a cruise before - do you have any idea what to expect? When it was your first cruise - were you surprised by anything?? Or if you've been on more than 1 cruise line, how did they compare to each other? I have mentioned before I was never interested in cruises before, and I was not new to the concept. I can remember my parents returning from a cruise to Alaska, and sitting in the living room with the luggage all around (not yet unpacked) and looking forward to the little gifts they brought me and my siblings!! (I remember those dolls that fit inside each other --- Nesting dolls, yes I had to look that up! ) but once we were all-in for our cruise I was constantly searching scouring Pinterest! As I hope to share tips, tricks, and memories on this new blog, do you have any to share? I'd love to read them! 'til next time,

Now Boarding ....

Image
Being the Family of the Day is pretty awesome! They personally lead you on to the ship - and you are the first to board, and have your name announced!!  (I wish I had this recorded!) A crew member was nice enough (they all are!) to take our photo! From there we just explored everywhere! The kids club has an open house at the beginning of each cruise so the parents can see everything and the kids can get used to a place before their parents go off for some relaxation!  (or maybe a ride on the AquaDuck!!) photo courtesy of Disney Parks Blog via Google search What is your first thing to do when you get on-board?  Or what's on your "Cruise Bucket List"?? (this photo is def on my next cruise bucket list!!) 'til next time,
